Lot Essay

There are only three known tightly cropped prints from this negative. In addition to the present lot, there is one print in a private collection and one print in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art, New York. After the 1960s, Sommer did not crop prints made from this negative. In later prints, the ragged edges of the weathered board are visible.
