Lot Essay

William Klein participated in very few exhibitions in the 1960s. The present lot is a large, vintage exhibition print, flush-mounted on board and is probably unique. It is not known for which exhibition it was made but it is possible that it was his large 1961 solo exhibition in Tokyo or the important 1963 group exhibition Thirty Photographers of the Century at the Photokina Fair in Cologne, Germany. The black velvet hat is by Lanvin Castillo.
