MARK OF ALEXANDER MACRAE, LONDON, 1863
On a shaped triangular base, on three acanthus and scroll openwork feet, the base with applied anthemion, rising to a branch-form stem with leaves and grape clusters, the wirework basket with pendant grapes, and a cut glass bowl with a scalloped rim, the base engraved with an inscription, monogram, and coat-of-arms, marked on base, base stamped A.B. Savory & Sons Cornhill London
16½ in. (41.9 cm.) high; 45 oz. (1401 gr.) weighable silver
The inscription reads "Presented to William Henry Sums Esqr. by the Guardians of Risbridge Union and Friends as a testamonial of his valuable services as Chairman at that Guard, for the period of twelve years May 5th 1865"
