Lot Essay

A pair of two-light candelabra with identical birds is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Objets montés du Moyen Âge à nos jours, Paris, 2000, p. 99. These birds are both reductions of the large models made for the Japanese Palace in circa 1735.
