A LOUIS XIV ORMOLU-MOUNTED BRASS, PEWTER AND TORTOISESHELL-INLAID EBONY, KINGWOOD AND AMARANTH BOULLE MARQUETRY BUREAU MAZARIN**
CIRCA 1700, ORIGINALLY WITHOUT FOLDING TOP AND WITH FRIEZE DRAWERS
Inlaid overall with scrolling foliage and flowers, the divided top enclosing a gilt-tooled red leather-lined writing-surface with the central section opening further to a locking, ebony-inlaid and fitted storage well, above a central, hinged cabinet door flanked by four small drawers, on square tapering legs joined by H-form stretchers and on circular ormolu feet, the back inlaid with kingwood and amaranth, inside of drawers marked with ink numerals, some replacements to veneer, the feet later, locks replaced, ebony veneers of interior replaced
29¼ in. (74 cm.) high, 33½ in. (85 cm.) wide, 16½ in. (42 cm.) deep, and 33¼ in. (84.5 cm.) deep when opened
