Each with baize-lined hinged top crossbanded in satinwood, with conforming friezes, on square tapering legs headed with satinwood lozenge inlay with lines

Provenance
Almost certainly supplied to John Crosse Crooke (1754-1829) and Elizabeth Crooke (née Parry) (1753-1845), Kempshott House, Hampshire; and thence by descent.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 15% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.

Lot Essay

John and Elizabeth Crooke acquired Kempshott House in 1778, and these tables are probably those listed in the hall in an inventory of 1789 which was made when the house was leased to the Prince Regent: "Two mahogany card tables, lined green cloth". Kempshott was demolished in the 1960s.
