Lot Essay

See Grete Jalk, 40 Years of Danish Furniture Design, 1987, Vol. 4, p. 199, showing this chair at the 1962 Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition. Henrik Sten Moller, writing about Wanscher's furniture at this Exhibition, said "Here the demands on the quality of craftsmanship have been pushed to extremes. No chairs have been made better - or more costly - in the history of this kingdom" (G. Jalk, op. cit, p.198).
