MARK OF CARRINGTON AND CO., LONDON, 1957
Modelled as two kettle drums, each with a hinged cover, fitted with a silver-mounted glass bottle, supported on an ebonised wood base, applied with a plaque with an engraved inscription, marked underneath each drum, inside cover and on bottle
the base 12 5/8 in. (32 cm.) long
The inscription reads 'PRESENTED TO H.R.H. PRINCESS MARGARET BY ALL RANKS 3RD THE KINGS OWN HUSSARS.'

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 15% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis. Proceeds from this lot will be donated to charity.

Lot Essay

H.R.H. The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon was Colonel in Chief of the 3rd King's Own Hussars in 1957 and 1958. They merged with the 7th Queen's Own Hussars to become the Queen's Own Hussars, with H.M. The Queen Mother as Colonel in Chief.
