Le Cricket pour les Sportsmen Français

Saint-Cloud: L. Goupy, [1928?]. 8vo., illustrations by the author, original printed wrappers (slightly sunfaded), modern cloth box.

ONE OF VERY FEW CRICKET BOOKS PUBLISHED IN FRENCH. Desmond Eagar described it as "possibly the only cricket book published entirely in French" (Reader's Guide to Hampshire Cricket, p. 4), though it was preceded by the Clef du Cricket, Paris, 1864. The author describes himself as "Membre du Hants County Cricket Club; Captain Owlesbury C.C. 1910-12; Captain Cheltenham House C.C., Bournemouth, 1887-88". The illustration on the inside front cover, showing Adam bowling to Eve, is signed with his initials and dated 1928, though the book is dated 1927 by Padwick. Padwick 523.
