Lot Essay

The greatest living Egyptian sculptor, the work of Adam Henein is profoundly rooted in the art of Pharaonic Egypt. The stark, minimal outlines of his sculptures and stylization of form clearly echoes the ancient, whilst his abstract paintings, based on simple geometric shapes, are painted on papyrus.

This year a major retrospective exhibition was held in Cairo to coincide with the publication of his monograph.
