The base containing a weight-driven 33-key barrel organ with 33 wood pipes, four spirally pinned barrels, and brass motor with modified three-weight flywheel to the bellows drive, the mahogany Biedermeier case with central pediment containing mirrored and balustraded compartment, flanked by ebonised panels with ormolu mounts, above three doors and central fall, enclosing maple and satinwood veneered drawers around small cupboard with drawers, above front panel of three false drawers, early 19th Century -84in. (213cm) high, 35in. (89cm) wide, the barrels 14½in. (37cm) wide

Lot Essay

Although both the cabinet and organ are of high quality, the fitting of one with the other is quite crude. The motor has provision for left and right hand winding, although as mounted in the cabinet, only the right hand winding square is fully accessible.
