Lot Essay

This unique set was designed by John Donald in the early 1980s for Princess Margaret from carved rubies and sapphires supplied personally by the Princess. The brooch and earclips were the only pieces ever created by the jeweller using the 'hammered edges' technique, designed specifically as a simple but effective compliment to the colourful stones.
