A gentleman called Jean-Baptiste Mareschal (1780-1837), in brown coat, black waistcoat with horizontal stripes, white knotted cravat, powdered hair
oval, 2½ in. (64 mm.) high, gilt-metal frame, the reverse with the monogram 'C M' in hair, within hair surround stuck down on ivory; shagreen travelling case
