Thinly potted with low rounded sides raised on a tapered wedge-shaped foot, covered inside and out with a rich yellow glaze, the base with a transparent glaze

Yellow-glazed dishes of this size with Hongzhi marks include an example illustrated by R. Krahl, Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, vol. II, p. 447, no. 774; one in the Victoria and Albert Museum, illustrated by D. Lion-Goldschmidt, Ming Porcelain, Fribourg, 1986, pl. 113; and another sold in our New York Rooms, 21 September 2000, lot 303.
