A MING-STYLE BLUE AND WHITE GARLIC-HEAD VASE
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)

Well potted with a pear-shaped body and painted with simulated 'heaping and piling' with six flowering and fruiting sprays above upright lappets, with bands of trefoil, key-fret and pendant lappets enclosing flame motifs at the shoulder, the bulb-shaped mouth encircled by a floral scroll and key-fret, all raised on a flaring foot with an outline of waves

Several Daoguang-marked vases of this design have been sold at auction, including one from the Yangzhitang Collection, sold in our Singapore Rooms, 30 March 1997, lot 201.
