A RARE MING CLOISONNE ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE TRIPOD TRAY
MING DYNASTY, 15TH/16TH CENTURY

The centre of the shallow circular dish enamelled with two makara dragons spewing strings of pearl amidst a turquoise ground scattered with floral sprays, encircling a central gilt-bronze medallion cast with dragons and a four-character Jingtai mark, the cavetto and everted mouth rim with bands of lingzhi sprays and cell-pattern diaper, the base of the dish with a vibrant design of prunus, bamboo and pine, 'The Three Friends of Winter', growing from rockwork, all raised on three animal-mask feet
