A RHODIAN POTTERY FIGURAL ARYBALLOS
ARCHAIC PERIOD, CIRCA LATE 7TH-EARLY 6TH CENTURY B.C.
Molded in the form of an eagle's head, the circular eyes beneath modelled brows, the curved beak outlined in dots, the nostrils indicated, the mouth in red, the top of the head ornamented with opposing spirals connected by hatched arches and dots, and framed on one side by dotted rosettes, the sides of the head with dotted rosettes on long stems interspersed with omegas, the vessel mouth protruding from the back of the head
