The present figure is based on the 4th century B.C. bronze statue of the Weary Herakles by Lysippos of Sikyon, now known as the Farnese Herakles after the famous Roman marble copy found in the Baths of Caracalla, once in the Farnese Collection and now in the Museo Nazionale in Naples.
