Tasting Note: First tasted ten years after the vintage when it was immensely deep and magnificent. I have made over 20 consistently good notes since then, including one of a fragrant Christopher's bottling, a bit lean and tannic for Graham. In 1990 one with almost Taylor-like strength and backbone. A glorious London-bottled wine warranting a very high mark at the Symington tasting in 1994, and again in 1995. In 1998 a pair, one was a very correct Graham Oporto bottling, the other, bottled by J & G Thompson of Leith, was better developed, full, fruity, more meaty bouquet. Dry finish. Most recently: warm, open and inviting rosehip colour; delicious fruit, fig, crisp, liquorice; fairly sweet, lean but lovely with hot finish. Last noted at the Symington Family Port Companies' tasting at the Berkeley, London, May 2002. At best ***** M.B.
