Plain black wax capsule. Bin-soiled label with some staining to edges of label. Level 7cms below base of cork - equivalent to around top-shoulder
Tasting Note: Yet another fragrant and fruity '53. My best note made in 1985 when I thought it was at its peak of perfection: lovely glowing colour; a fabulously ripe bouquet redolent of hot tiles, cedar; perfect weight, flavour and balance. Most recently a voluptuous impériale. Last tasted, just one of 31 vintages of Gruaud, Sept 1993 ***** M.B.
