Lot Essay

The figure of Paul Maze painting or sketching at one of 'The Season's' sporting events, such as Henley, Cowes or the races at Goodwood was a common sight. Influential friends or patrons would reserve him a special place to stand and work from and he was a familiar figure at Cowes painting from the end of the pier of the Royal Yacht Squadron.
