Lot Essay

The inscription on the mount records that Biliverti was the son of Jaques Jansz. Bijlevelt, born in Delft, and Beliverti came to Florence in 1573 to work for Grand Duke Ferdinand I. Giovanni Biliverti is also sometimes called Antonio.
