ALBUM AMICORUM of Wolf Eberhard CAMMERER VON DALBERG AUS WORMS. Manuscript on paper and vellum, Germany and France, 1631-1632 and n.d., including 26 blazoned coats of arms and three miniatures, approximately 129 leaves (including 90 blanks), oblong 8vo (118 x 162mm), modern pencil foliation (occasional staining and soiling), 20th-century gilt-tooled vellum. Provenance: armorial ex-libris and shelfmark (Ms.732) of Rudolf Ritter von Gutmann; shelfmark (Ser.nov. 2972) of Österreichische Nationalbibliothek.
The miniatures include two of unusual quality: a characterful rendition of a street musician on violin accompanied by a chorus of cats (f.61v); and a finely detailed Actaeon, already half a stag, looking at the bathing Diana and two nymphs (f.105); the third scene, on f.59v, depicts two lovers in a gondola in the Venetian lagoon (a little rubbed). Most notable among the signatures is that of Louis II de Bourbon, Prince de Condé ("le grand Condé", signed in Latin as Duc d'Enghien, n.d.), on f.6, together with his arms.
