Nasmyth and proof on india paper before letters, 11 engraved frontispieces with 2 suites of mounted proofs before letters on india paper, one mounted engraved plate on india paper with 2 suites of mounted proofs before letters on india paper, one mounted engraved plate on india paper, 1 hand-coloured double-page lithographic map, 1 tinted lithographic map, 10 facsimile plates, 5 double-page. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with 271 plates, portraits, and additional titles, many mounted proofs before letters on india paper, on various papers and vellum, 16 double-page, music, illustrations and facsimiles in the text. (Occasional light spotting, some light browning on extra-illustrations, some light staining, principally marginal.) Contemporary half crushed blue morocco gilt over marbled boards by Bradstreet's, spines gilt in compartments, lettered in 2 and dated at the foot, other compartments with central thistle tools enclosed by floral sprays, top edges gilt (some very light rubbing or bumping at extremities, some joints with minor splitting or skilful repairs).
