Grand Etteilla I Tarot, circa 1850s?, France, card maker unknown, 20 of 78 cards (includes Major Arcana 1, 4, 5, 9-13, 15, 23, 35-37, 40, 47, 53, 63, 64, 68 and 78), stencil-colored copper engravings. Cards are numbered in Arabic including card 1 entitled, L'Homme pour qui on consult, 78 Folie, double-ended card titles or meanings, panel at bottom ace of batons, card number 35, is colored in yellow and includes a staff representing the staff of Moses, panel at bottom of ace of swords, card number 63, is colored in yellow without any image but refers to the sword of St. Pierre, unusual Italian suits, two indices, round corners. Backs are plain. Size 4 5/8 in. (12 cm.) high, 2 9/16 in. (6.6 cm.) wide. In generally fine condition.
