Laliberte studied art in 1948 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, followed by the Institute of Design, Chicago, the Cranbrook Academy of Arts, Bloomfield, Michigan, the Illinois Institute of Technology, and St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, where he received his Doctorate of Fine Arts. His work is characterized by vibrant colors combined with an elaborate tapestry of iconic images. His work has been exhibited in over 150 solo exhibitions, 30 group exhibitions, and is represented in over 100 public and private collections including the Smithsonian Institute and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
