Lot Essay

A related table from Eastern Virginia or Northeastern North Carolina is in the Colonial Williamsburg Collections and published in Ronald Hurt and Jonathan Brown, Southern Furniture 1680-1830 (Virginia, 1997), p.225. Both the table at Williamburg and that being offered, have histories of ownership from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Another similar table was sold in these Rooms, 17 June 1992, lot 133. The table being offered is registered in the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, 5-6007.
