Domino Bone Box, c. 1802-1815.
4 x 10.5 x 3.5 in. (97 x 265 x 90 mm). Rectangular bone box on wooden structure, dental-edged cribbage side rails, swag curtain skirt, carved feet, and peak-shaped sliding lid. The lid consists of 6 panels framed by bone, each of which contain a watercolor image on paper under glass The panels depict two men and two women elegantly dressed and two vases of roses. 8 additional panels along the sides and ends of the box also contain watercolors of two vases with flowers, three urban scenes, and three scenes of a fisherman. Provenance: Ouduard (signature on bottom of box); Lloyd Collection Catalog No. 127.
