13 x 17.5 x 9.75 in, (330 x 445 x 250 mm). Fine mahogany box, brass handles, hinges, and escutcheon with key (minor crack along top lid, a few very minor scratches). The interior contains two removable mahogany trays and a bottom compartment that hold a variety of game pieces, including: a cribbage board, pick-up sticks, painted lead horses and hedges for Steeplechase, dice, game counters, checkers, a word game, numbered pieces, cards, and markers for Lotto, two morocco tumblers, a Bezique set, 2 sets of Draughts, Tiddledy Winks, and Halma. The front of the box opens to reveal a set of chess pieces. A game board for backgammon, chess, and checkers, as well as a solitaire peg game, are hinged to the inside of the top lid. 4 decks of cards by A. Dougherty, NY, circa 1875, Jno. J. Levy, NY, circa 1870s, The Russell and Morgan Co., Cincinnati, circa 1885, and Victor E. Mauger, NY, circa 1870s are also included in the compendium. AN EXCEPTIONAL GAME SET.
