Freundschaft und Scherz. Germany, 19th century.

136 cards divided into two groups: the Zuschriften, or letter group, with Roman numerals I-VII at the top and then further divided by Arabic numerals 2-12 and the Antworten, or reply, group also numbered I-VIII and then 1-6. To start the game, the two sets of cards are divided according to their Arabic numerals. Each player then rolls the dice (not provided with the cards) and then selects from the Zuschriften pile the numbered cards that correspond with the total on the dice. The player rolls again to determine the numbered cards to take from the Antworten pile. The text on the Zuschriften cards create humorous letters, and the text on the Antworten cards provides the reply. This set includes instructions printed in German and French, and the game is in its original paper board box with paper label.
