RUSSIAN (VOLGA AREA), LATE 18TH CENTURY
The feasts and saints that are commemorated in September are represented on four registers. The icon was painted with care and the minute faces were executed in detail. The bright colours stand out against the gold background. The composition is framed by a border, decorated with tooled foliate motifs.
