A PAIR OF LATE FEDERAL FANCY BLACK-PAINTED AND DECORATED SIDE CHAIRS
Stencilled by Hitchcock, Alford and Co., Hitchcocksville, Connecticut, circa 1835
Each with ring-turned arched crestrail above two horizontal slats, the top stencilled with a basket of fruit and foliage flanked by gold stencilled stiles over a trapezoidal caned seat and rounded front rail, on tapering ring and baluster-turned legs joined by ring and baluster-turned box stretchers, the whole black painted, stencilled "HITCHCOCK, ALFORD & CO. HITCHCOCKSVILLE, CONN/WARANTED"
