Lot Essay

Pieter Goos (ca. 1616-1675) was an important cartographer, engraver, publisher and print-seller in Amsterdam. His marine atlases were held to be among the finest printed marine atlases of the 17th century, often they were added to the volumes of Blaeu's Atlas Maior.
These sea charts were first published in De Zee-Atlas, Ofte Water-Weereld, Waer in vertoont werden alle de Zee-Kusten Van het bekende des Aerd-Bodems, circa 1666.
