Dr Corinna Höper has kindly confirmed the attribution to Passarotti, on the basis of a photograph, in a communication dated 9 May 2006. Dr Höper notes that although no painting of the subject is known the present work is 'a very fine example of the art of drawing by Bartolomeo Passarotti'.
