'Edwin and Harry', 1st World War period teddy bears
Edwin, a British Highland Soldier teddy bear with short blonde mohair head and legs, black boot button eyes, pronounced muzzle with black stitched nose and mouth, felt lined ears, swivel head, body and arms of black velvet, pin and button jointed limbs with felt pads, kilt and sash --10½in. (26.5cm.) high (some general wear and fading); and a British teddy bear with brown burlap plush, black tinplate eyes, slotted-in ears, swivel head, pin-jointed limbs with felt pads, squeaker and white jacket and trousers --10¾in. (27cm.) high (2)
Provenance
Bought from Sue Pearson in 1994, reputed to have belonged to a WWI flyer.
