2 volumes, 51 x 39 mm. 260 (of 264) engraved plates after CHRISTINA AND MAGDALENA KUESLIN, including two engraved titles (plates numbered 1-263 with two plates numbered 14). (Engraved titles trimmed slightly with slight loss to imprint.) Contemporary mottled calf, spines gilt (some wear to one joint near spine end, few old repairs). Provenance: purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 2 July 1956.
Christina and Magdalena Këslin were sisters and members of a large Augsburg family of artists. They were active as illustrators and painters in Switzerland during the second half of the 17th century. (2)
