Full purple crushed levant morocco, spine lettered in gold, purple morocco doublures elaborately gilt, embroidered silk linings by DUPRÉ BERNIER, original wrappers bound in; morocco tipped suede lined slipcase. Provenance: Felix Chambon (philosopher at the Sorbonne, numerous notes); purchased from Bodley Book Shop, 5 December 1954.

A unique copy, inserted are two autograph letters signed, one by Victor Cousin (1792-1867) to Madaame Recamier, consisting of two pages and dated 1814; the other by Jules Simon, dated 1854.
