Tall 8o (257 x 187 mm). PRINTED ON VELLUM. 10 color illustrations by W. RUSSELL FLINT, printed on and mounted on paper. A JEWELLED BINDING SET WITH 60 JEWELS, INCLUDING TURQUOIZES, GARNETS AND MOONSTONES, by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, red morocco, covers elaborately gold tooled and with inlaid elaborate strapwork border on covers, enhanced by a pointillé border of flowers, the front cover with a slightly sunken panel at center with an inlaid leaf and and flower design centering a strapwork design incorporating a garnet and 4 moonstones, four strapwork designs similarly embellished each with a garnet and 4 moonstones and 6 garnets along border, with a green stone at each corner, rear cover with large central pointillé panel centering a strapwork design embellished with a chrysoprase and 12 turquoises, strapwork designs at the corners with moonstones at each corner and 6 moonstones along border, and with a green stone at each corner, green morocco doublures and endleaves, doublures with inlaid floral design at center with richly gilt framework, brown watered silk flyleaves, edges gilt; silk and plush lined blue morocco folding case. Provenance: Fred W. Allsopp (his sale Parke-Bernet, 1 April 1947, lot 181, Emil Offenbacher agent).
