SILVER PLAQUES. Two silver plaques, probably German, 18th or 19th century.
Each approximately 240 x 170 mm. One silver plaque represents the Assumption of the Virgin standing on a crescent with a star-studded background, the other is a Church Father (?) on matching background, both figures are surrounded by an oval border of stones: carnelians, malachites, lapis and imitation stones, each corner is decorated with a conical boss, upon a circular decorative background, both plaques are each mounted on a larger wooden board, decorated in blue and gold in an Italian manner.
The two plaques were probably intended for a bookbinding. (2)
