A Replica Rara Culpeper Screw-Barrel Microscope of circa 1720,
engraved for Culpeper Fec.t , the brass Wilson-type screw-barrel microscope with ivory body-tube with sliding focusing attached to the pillar via a balljoint, the pillar with articulated arm to a bull's-eye condenser and with fixed-arm mirror, terminating in a folding tripod stand, one leg engraved Culpeper another Fecit, with six bead glass objectives numbered 1-6 with brass caps, three ivory sliders, a brass demountable slider, opaque specimen viewing attachment, specimen forceps and black/white disc with steel arms either side and plate with foliate decoration and engraved for E:Culpeper, a lieberkuhn in brass case, tweezers and a turned lignum vitae arm for using as a simple microscope, the fitted simulated fishskin-covered case with green velvet lining, escutcheon and key -- 21.5cm x 12.5cm. (8½ x 4 7/8in.)
