Lot Essay

Grivolas patented a method of gaining easy access to the escapement without dismantling the movement. A model of related design to the present example appears in an advertisement of 1924. See Alan and Rita Shenton, Collectable Clocks 1840-1940, Antique Collectors' Club, 1994, p.60.
