The arched case with glazed panels to sides and top, on stepped and panelled plinth, with silvered and pierced chapter ring applied with brass Roman numerals, conforming subsidiary seconds ring, blued steel hands, the eight day movement with skeletonised gilt-brass plates, dead beat escapement with adjustable pallets, maintaining power, wheels with five crossings, secured with two substantial pillars to a conforming plate with pierced corners, positioned on the back board and signed Made by/R.N.U. PICKERING/LONDON/1914, the steel rod pendulum suspended from the plate, glass mercury jar (mercury removed), swinging against a silvered beatscale with repeat signature -- 76¼ in.
