An embellised wooden ruyi-sceptre, 19th Century
embellished in jade, agate, pink quartz, lapis lazuli and coral, carved in the form of a gnarled branch, its ruyi head decorated to the centre with a jadeite roundel, carved with a shou character and set within a gilt-metal ring applied with minute foliate studs, encircled by five bats and scattered peaches and a gourd, the stem similarly applied with further gourds and leaves amongst its entwined wooden branches - 20½in. (52.1cm.) long, attached silk tassels, glass and mother of pearl inlaid wooden rectangular case with silk lining, the case decorated with panels of figures and foliage - 23¾in. (60cm.) long total.
