carved on the top within a medallion with a gentleman seated amidst rockwork listening to a scholar playing the qin below a pine tree, the sides carved with quatrelobed panels enclosing scholars and peasants engaged in daily pursuits, all reserved on diaper grounds, the interior and underside lacquered black -- 5 3/8in. (13.6cm.) diam.
