A dockyard style model of the French sixth rate ship L'Hesperide of circa 1700
the hull of the model built up from the solid with painted white bottom and the planking lines drawn in, a black waist with two waist boards, and mahogany and painted blue topsides, pierced for twenty six guns (total) and the topsides decorated with cat faces (for fairleads) and fleur de lis', the gunports are fitted with lids on the main gun deck, gun port wreaths on the upper deck. The decks are planked in veneers with the planking lines scired in and detailed with a cast figurehead of a cherub with wings, head rails, anchor on rode, pin rail with belaying pins, belaying post, capstan, belfry with bell, decorated railings, deck gratings, lanterns, decorated quarter galleries and transom with balcony and the name in an oval medallion. Un-rigged but pierced for three masts. Displayed on a pair of modern dolphin cradles.
