A LATE VICTORIAN MAHOGANY BREAKFRONT BOOKCASE
THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY
The scrolling open pediment with rosettes at each end filled with pierced trellis, above an egg-and-dart moulded cornice above a frieze with triglyphs and foliate metopes, above four glass doors, with geometric astragals enclosing a satin-lined interior with three shelves, the lower section with Vitruvian scroll and fluted frieze, above four glazed doors divided by Venus masks emerging from scallop shells issuing husks and foliage, with two further doors enclosing four satin-lined compartments, on a plinth base with rose-garland decorative band, inventory number stamped to the back '7536'
