The hood with double frets surmounted by figural finials, the case with canted angles and with moulded frames to the trunk door above a bombé plinth, on claw feet, the painted dial with figures of Neptune and Mercury above a recessed panel of rocking-ships, its backplate with a city view and penny moon, the silvered and arcaded chapterring baring signature Gerit Tervooren, Amsteldam, matted and engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring its centre silvered and engraved with a portrait, with sectors for month, day of week and date below, further rings to the side for slaan/niet slaan and speelen/niet speelen, the eight day seven pillar three train movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell, with music on sixteen bells playing eight tunes on 35 cm. long barrel; dial possibly associated; pendulum, three weights
