Level: upper shoulder; Handblown squat bottle, Lafite handpainted on bottle, green wax capsule states: "1864 claret and Thomson Laudler & Co of Leithe, Scotland"
The amber/ruby-colored 1864 Lafite-Rothschild possessed a Mouton-like nose of cedar and cassis, accompanied by surprising intensity and ripeness. In the mouth, the wine revealed remarkable freshness, sweet fruit, surprisingly high alcohol, and wonderful, exotic, Asian spice, tobacco, and Graves-like flavors. There was surprising power and intensity in the finish of this totally delicious, compelling wine!
