A CARVED PINE WALL MIRROR
Late 17th century
The elaborate pierced leaf-carved frame centred by two cherubs crowning a robed figure holding an orb, the top corners with a lion and a unicorn, the apron with two further cherubs, some elements of carving replaced, with a label to the reverse inscribed in ink May 1912 This Charles II mirror when purchased by Messrs Gregory & Co. was painted dark brown and some parts of the carving missing. The brown paint has been carefully removed down to the original gilding, the missing parts of the carving restored and the gilding made good by them and later inscribed Property of Mrs. Edward Moorhouse and later Property of W.H.Rhodes-Moorhouse bought for Parnham by Mrs. Saur (sic) was at Parnham til 1928 in 1939 taken out of store and brought to Mortham
