TWO INDIAN CARVED IVORY 'JOHN COMPANY' CHESS PIECES
BERHAMPORE, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY
Comprising; a king as an elephant with covered howdah and a queen modelled as a queen with uncovered howdah, on a lotus petal carved base
The king -- 4½in. (11.5cm.) high; the queen -- 3 5/8in. (9.2cm.) high
Together with an Oriental carved ivory bishop, possibly Indonesian, 19th century, modelled as a charioteer group -- 3in. (7.5cm.) high (3)
